New Key Creation & Replacing FOB
Anyone that owns a car has had issues with their keys at some time. It can be frustrating especially if you are having a deadline to meet. The thing is because we are dealing with manmade products, they go bad at just about any time. If we could predict when our car keys will go bad, we would ensure we take the necessary measures to correct the situation and never have a car key issue again. Needing to do a new key creation and replace FOB varies from make and model of cars.
Know the Different types of Car keys
Firstly, we need to know what is FOB. The acronym means “Free On Board”. This is a keyless entry device which enables remotely starting your car. Now that we have established this meaning, we can now educate you on the different types of car keys. Not every key no matter how similar they are can open every car lock. The signature of every car key made is unique to that car. This means every key is specifically made for the make, model, and era the car was manufactured.Types of Car Keys
- A traditional car key or standard car key is made to be cut by any key machine. It is like having a key cut for your door. These keys are very common and are signature to cars manufactured before 1995
- A Transponder key or keys which use FOBs are made after 1995. They are more secure and operate with a wireless system. They relay with transmitter and chip which is embedded in the car for effective and secure options.
Reasons for Needing a New Key Creation & Replacement FOB
- Damaging your car key as it relates to a FOB is not the same as damaging a car key manufactured before 1995. A cars FOB that is damaged may mean there is transmitter or receiver issues or an electronic problem. These situations may be from frayed wires caused by many uses of entering and exiting your car, or you may have dropped your keys one too many times.
- Having a new key created for any reason does not mean your keys will work. If you own a car which uses a transponder key, you have to have it programmed to your cars transmitter system if you don’t, the key will not work.
- FOB batteries go bad without you knowing as they don’t give any warnings.
- Having many duplicates of your keys will cause issues. If you have done so, then it means at some time you will find the key no longer works. This is because as many times you duplicate the key the manufactured electronic relays within the transponder and transmitter chip will become less. Think of an original issued brand of anything, if you make duplicates of the product it becomes less than the original and very soon will just be another item on the market. This is what happens to your duplicated keys after a while they become just another key.
